ShredderEssentials Paper Shredder

We receive a ton of junk mail, and with identity theft being so widespread today, we don't want to throw away anything with any personal information. I went looking for an affordable paper shredder and decided on the ShredderEssential 6 sheet paper shredder.
This is a very basic paper shredder. The shredder sits on top of a small bin. It does what it is supposed to do, shred paper. This shredder is supposed to be able to shred 6 normal sheets of paper but I have found that it has trouble doing more than 3 sheets at a time. It has a tendancy to jam if you put more than 3 sheets in it.
This shredder will shred envelopes and heavier papers, such as card stock. I usually only do one sheet at a time when shredding heavier items.

I am starting to believe that a really powerful and long lasting shredder cannot be had for under $50. So much junk mail is thicker than 3 sheets of paper so this would not work for us, but for a basic shredder, as you said, it sounds OK.

I just got a paper shredder but sounds like yours is better. :)
I had to deal with a shredder that would jam all the time, it was so annoying. I ended up feeding it only one page at a time. I realize there is a limit on how many pages each shredder will take at once, but come on, I want something strong! :)
I also have a "basic" shredder. It works fine for us, but many people want more power.
I think that a paper shredder is very important to making sure that you protect your identity. Thanks for all the information and sharing your experience with us. It was very helpful.
