Sickly Sweet Scrub
By Bosoxy onWhen I first opened my jar of the Serious Skin Care Glucosamine Phyto-Pumpkin scrub my senses were overwhelmed with the scent of soybean oil and sugar. To me it smelled pretty bad.. I could not smell the pumpkin at all. Upon further inspection of the ingredient list, pumpkin is listed eighth. I also was not crazy to see the addition of fragrance and added color on the ingredients list, both listed just after propylparaben.
I proceeded to try the scrub. The consistency of the scrub is more gritty than I would like for a facial scrub. Facial skin is more tender than skin on other areas of the body and I would have liked a finer grind of sugar than what was used by SSC. I was actually surprised by the size of the sugar granules. Because I this I was extra gentle on my application.
To be honest this scrub did nothing for me. It did not seem to have any adverse reactions, but I really did not like the feel of it on my skin and couldnt get away from the smell.
I did not want to waste the jar so I did use it in the shower on my body, but felt that I could make a better body scrub than what was in the jar and ended up tossing it out.

I'm sensitive to smells as it is - this sounds awful! Thanks for letting us know what not to get.
I love stuff like this and am glad I read it. I probably would have tried it. I did learn that to much grit isn't good for your skin either. Thanks for the great information.
What a shame that you couldn't return it. That's not cheap for a 2oz jar. I wonder if the smell was unusual or if they meant it to smell like this. I wouldn't want my face smelling like ewwww either. Maybe something "wonky" went wrong in the processing of the product.
$21.00 for a two oz jar? It should smell like wine and roses! Well, roses anyway. I use a cheap apricot facial scrub...works great. Sorry this was such a bust for you.
Sorry that this product did not work like it was suppose to. For the price it should have worked better.
This sounds awful, especially for the price! Yikes! Thanks for writing this up, and saving some people some $!
Thanks for the information, and your honest opinion about this. It's nice to know not everything is great, and I'm glad I learned this before anything was bought!
