Signs is another movie in a series of disapointments from director M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable) and stars Mel Gibson as a widower and father of two going through a spiritual crisis and is trying to find some direction in his life. Also starring in the movie is Joaquin Phoenix (Walk The Line, Gladiator) as Gibson's brother, who is easily spooked by the appearance of crop circles in and around their farming community. I typically like science ficiton movies, but for some reason this one just fell flat with me. I think that the performances were terrible, and the plot was lacking, and the climax was anything but climactic. I also wasn't impressed with the special features, one of which was an even worse version of the movie that Shyamalan did as a student.
