Sima Cap Keeper- Poorly Assembled- Useless

This is such a simple little gadget you would think they could make it right. Not so- neither the design nor the execution is good.

This is just a little cord that attaches to your camera. The other end has a sticky dot that you press on your lens cap so that you wont lose the cap.

So, the one that Ive had for years decided that the pad of sticky stuff was tired. So I bought a new one, when out of town, but didnt open it till I got home.Big mistake. When I finally did open this, the minute I straightened out the cord the whole thing came apart in my hand.

The current design is poor to start with. There is one little clamp ferrule that is supposed to hold the flat nylon ends together with the thin round cord that goes to the sticky dot.And that clamp wasnt pressed tight enough.

This one is also designed differently from the one I had earlier. Instead of the cord fastening to the camera body, on this one you are supposed to loop the flat elastic around the lens body.Well, come on!Elastic like this always gives out.How long do you think it will be before this would no longer hold tightly to the lens.

So what I did was I scraped the dead sticky stuff off the old cap keeper and replaced it with a small dot of 3M magic square (that double sided foam core sticky stuff) Im still out the $2.49 for this disaster, but I solved my problem!
