Simple Beauty By RachelReviews on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I was very lucky to get this. A user on Twitter who has a big following on Youtube's beauty channel let out a tweet asking if anyone was interested in an eyeshadow. The tweet had a link in it that showed exactly what the product looked like. I was beyond interested, so I responded right away. Turns out, I was the first person to tweet her, so I ended up getting it!

This is a beautiful quad of eyeshadows. I find it to be very natural and neutral which suits my personality very well. I like cosmetics that I can wear to the post office and the grocery store. Essentially, makeup that doesn't scream, "MAKEUP!"

Each shade doesn't have a name that is marked on the palette, nor on the website, so I will give them makeshift names to describe them.

In the upper lefthand corner, there is a pale, shimmery, highlight shade. I say it's a very, very, very light golden tan. Let's call that one "Pale Sand". On the same row, to the right of "Pale Sand", there is a darker shade. This color is the exact same color of my eyelids! This may be different for many other people, of course, but I've been told that it looks like my eyelids have eyeshadow on them, when in reality, there's nothing on them at all. When I put this color on my lids, it disappeared which made me realize, this is my exact eyelid color. Spooky!

Well, tangent over, this shade is a really pretty, light bronzey color. I'll call it "Mink." I find the pigmentation on "Mink" to be much different the others. I have to press harder to get the product to come through and apply much more to get more color. It has shimmer, but it seems much more understated as opposed to "Pale Sand." On the bottom row to the the left is a really shimmery, golden taupe. I love this color. The sparkliness of this shade rivals that of "Pale Sand." For the time being, I will call this one "Stone." Next to "Stone," is a supremely warm brown. Let's call that one "Chocolate." Since I am cool-toned, I did not think "Chocolate" would look good on me in the least. I find that it looks great as my crease color. I have yet to try it as my allover lid color. I think if I apply it that way it will be much too much warmth. It also looks good as a liner.

I think these eyeshadows would look great on any eye color. I think that they would be best on lighter skintones. That was actually the main reason the person had the giveaway on Twitter. The colors didn't show up so well on her darker skin. I included one picture in my gallery of the colors swatched on my wrist area to show how it looks on my skin. From what I know, this size is not for individual sale and was a gift with purchase, but a full size quad for "02 - Amber Honey" is sold on Estee Lauder for $35.00.

How nice that you were able to get this as a gift. I have fair skin, and those are the shades that I wear most often also!
