Sink Stopped Up? By RachelReviews on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Yesterday, I noticed my sink was not emptying as quickly as it should. Before I knew it, all this cloudy water was being trapped above the drain, because of a clog. It was getting gross in there, so I knew what needed to be done.

I went and got some drain cleaner from where I keep it in the house. I use this type from Homelife which is comparable to Drano. I found it be really thick and gloppy. I have used other clog treatments and they were not as viscous as this. I wasn't even sure if it would go down the drain. I was desperate to get my drain clear, though. The suspense was killing me, so I left the room to let it, hopefully, make its way down the pipes.

30 minutes later I came back in. The room smelled like bleach. Yech! I walked over to my sink; the gel had gone down the drain. I began to flush the pipes with hot water, per the directions. The water zipped right down the drain. I knew the clog was history.

Ingredient information: sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate. Contains no phosphorus.
