Sisal Cat Scratching Post

The "boys" (my two male kittens) enjoy this Sisal Cat Scratching Post. Cats and kittens love to sharpen their claws. Our kittens are no exception. I found that they were using the side of my couch, my carpet and a number of other things in my house to sharpen their claws. I didn't want to have them declawed, because frankly, I think that is inhumane, but that is another topic. So, our vet suggested we get a scratching post with Sisel and carpet. Sisel is a type of sturdy rope. He also suggested that we rub some catnip on the post to get the cats interest. Well, it has worked pretty well. They seem to really like the sisal and it has held up well to thier scratching. Occassionally I still catch them clawing the side of the couch. I grab them and put them up on the post and they seem to be getting the idea. It is a good idea to start this as kittens, so they don't know any different. I have been pleased with the durability and effectiveness of this scratching post and wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.
