Sleep Easy and Maybe Other Benefits, too

Reviewing: Schiff Nutrition Group Melatonin Plus
Purchased at: Costco     Price: $5.89 USD

I first heard about Melatonin about fifteen years ago when it was being promoted as a supplement to help combat Jet-Lag by helping you fall asleep and reset your natural sleep rhythm in the new time zone.Initially, I was only able to find Melatonin in small packages at quite high prices.

More recently, the benefits of using Melatonin as a general sleep aid have become more well known and it has become generally available at much lower prices. This particular product contains 3 mg of Melatonin and 25 mg of Theanine. Theanine is an amino aid found in certain types of tea; it is said to reduce stress and promote relaxation.

"The Melatonin Miracle" is a book which promotes Melatonin as a natural sleep aid which strengthens the immune system, prolongs sexual vitality, lowers blood pressure, and helps normalize cholesterol levels.

I don't have serious sleep problems, but often I am just wound up when I go to bed (thinking about what I am going to cook the next day, or what review I will do next in SR).I find Melatonin to be very helpful in taking the edge off and letting me drift off to sleep.

The package says 'Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland...'.The pineal gland is discussed in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" which I have previously reviewed.

Many people who take Melatonin as a sleep aid say that they experienced increased frequency and more vivid dreams.I believe it does have such an impact; I am talking about pleasant dreams, not like alleged Larium induced psychotic nightmares.

There are several warnings on the package which should be considered by people with specific health issues.

At a cost of less than two cents a day, I think Melatonin (Plus) is a great deal.

My mom used to take melatonin for help sleeping. It's not good for people with serious sleep problems, but it's good to help those who, like you, just need to relax and wind down a little quicker.

I have used melatonin to help with insomnia at various times, it works well and has no side effects like many of the prescription products. Thanks

i've heard melatonin can be good for people who have night jobs and sleep during the day but also I heard it has no effect if taken at night as the body produces natural melatonin. I'm glad it working for you. good review
