Slide Out Garbage Bin - Perfect for your Cupboard!
By crunkyjens onWhile my sister and I were shopping in Ikea to outfit her new bedroom in our apartment we came across this great little pull out waste bin.We both thought it would work perfectly under the sink.Currently I have my trash can in my laundry room that is right off of my kitchen, but sometimes I just wish I could open the door under the sink and toss whatever trash I have into it.
The pull out system was $17.99 and then the actual waste bin was $7.99.The pull out system came complete with all the screws, bolts, and sliding things that we needed.However, when we got home we found out that it was a little too tall for the cupboard under the sink.Luckily I have a cupboard right next to that and we ended up taking out a shelf and the waste bin system fit in perfectly.
My Dad was able to install it very easily and it was working in no time.The only thing is there is a little lip on the bottom of my cupboard so we have to gently raise the bin when we go to pull it out so it doesn't get caught.Also the bin came with a divider to store recycled products on one side and trash on the other.Currently we just have it as one big trash bin though.
I think this is another great product by Ikea, you gotta love that place!
yes we bought one for our home. it is very useful .just open the unsink door and pur junk in. handy as well. i am glad i had one for my kitchen as well.
Not bad although I find its an inconvenience if your hands are full
We also had one of these installed about 2 years ago, and the rails started binding up after about a year. Granted, we have kids that were not the easiest on it and we used it a lot every day, but still, I don't think it was excessive. Might want to go with a higher quality if you plan on using it a lot, such as Rev-A-Shelf do it yourself www.rev-a-shelf.com or ShelfGenie custom built www.shelfgenie.com. That was our issue with several pull out shelves in our Dallas home, the rails simply stopped working as well. Make sure whatever you get, the rails are high quality.
