Slow Cooker Best If Work Long Hours By janbubears on - Updated Sep 18, 2011
If like me you work long hours - or night shifts, but then again even if you dont - a slow cooker is a real must have. When i get home in the early hours of the morning off my night shift - i quickly prepare some vegetables and cut up my meat and basically throw them into my slow cooker along with a ready sauce mix and turn it on. I leave my cooker on unattended for around 7 or 8 hours and when i awake the smell is delicious. My slow cooker has 2 settings low and high. In other words if your at home and around lunch time you fancy preparing a meal for the evening and cannot find the time to sit around watching it - you can pop the cooker on high setting and leave until the evening. There is a warm selection for if your ready to dish it out, but may take some time in doing so. Mine has a stoneware pot which pulls out, and is very easy to wash. It has a pyrex lid, and cool touch handles. I can pop it into the microwave or oven to warm up. Its non stick and rinse clean. My slow cooker is one of the most used and invaluable commodities in my kitchen. I have managed to convince most of my family to get one, and all of them use them on a regular basis. Mine cost just £14.95 from Amazon Uk, and comes with free delivery. My American friends can find one on Amazon.com for $29.48 - or from $23.95 Used & New.
