Smart Gold That Can Sometimes Be Fake By ladychai on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I have been subscribed to Smart Gold Plan 800 consumable for almost four years now. When it comes to services, as long as I pay my bills month on month regardless of whether or not my payment is up to date, it is quite exemplary. I chose their consumable plan since I am not really a text addict and I do not use my phone all the time.
The only thing I am not rather pleased is the fact that it has been twice now that the phone I was expecting to get from this plan is always unavailable.
When I subscribed for smart, since I need to always be available to contact my subordinates as well as be contacted by them, I was hoping for a 3g phone. The sony ericsson phone was supposedly free when you suscribe however the smart agent informed me that such phone is out of stock and instead offered me a different phone, a samsung. Don't get me wrong, I love the samsung phone however it was not what I have chosen. After two years when my phone subscription expired, I availed for their retention program and expected to receive a sony ericsson phone once again. When I went to their main office to claim my phone and renew my subscription, there it is again, the phone is, as you've guessed it, out of stock. What I got was a nokia phone instead. I love the nokia phone though because of the pictures I have taken from this camera can really be good and the fact that it is 3g but it still is not the phone I envisioned to have.
As a subscriber, I believe and I know that the "smart people" knows when there will be customers who will be renewing their contracts with them, why not reserve the phone chosen by the customer, alert then before the contract expires, they do have text messaging services informing you when you bill is due, why not do the same when you're about to renew a contract?
Hopefully, by the time I renew my contract with them, I hope this time I will really get the phone I expect to have.
According to their price matrix, a plan 800 should be able to avail the following phone for free:
myPhone TV21
Samsung L700Samsung S3653
Sony Ericsson G502
And all the phones that are free for Plan 500. Hopefully, I get to have myPhone TV21or Sony Ericsson G502 or LG KP500 Cookie.

That's pretty bad that they never have the phone. That's actually considered a "bait and switch" tactic and is illegal in most areas, but not sure about the Philippines. I am sure your other phones work well, like you said. But when you are expecting something else and get sold a different item - that's just not right. I hope one day you are able to get the phone you really want. Thanks for the review.
Really? I think I'm moving on now to my second year with smart and will see if they will act the same way.
