Reviewing: The Body Shop Shea Body Butter

I received Shea Body Butter as a gift from my Manager a year ago. It is a great moisturizer for hands, feet and elbows. A little goes a long way! I was still using it a year later until it ran out yesterday. Let me tell you more about it.

It is purse sized (50ml), in a small circular container with a label picture of burgundy colored Shea kernels on the front. It's consistency is thick and not runny. However, it melts to the touch and speads easily on your skin. The colour of the cream is beige and there is no fragrance or weird odour.

This shea body butter was well preserved as I've been using it for the past year and it has not gone bad. My only gripe about the shea body butter is that is goes on smooth but becomes oily. If you use it on your hands they will be slippery until the excess oil is absorbed by your skin.

A good thing about The Body Shop's Shea Body Butter is that it is made with Community Trade shea butter. This means that they buy their shea butter directly from communities that manufacture it as a raw material, supporting the community through fair wages and working conditions. To think that by buying shea butter from The Body Shop, my boss supported a community somewhere in Africa. Truly remarkable!

Fabulous about the supportive efforts - I like products like these that give back - sounds like a pretty decent product albeit with the bit of greasy factor but from a responsible company. Thanks for the info.
