So, What's It Like To Be A Cat? By circusmama on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My son received this book for his first birthday, and it became one of the first books I had memorized from reading it so much! Written by Karla Kuskin and illustrated by Betsy Lewin, it's the story of an interview between a boy and his cat.

The text is quite charming. Everything written in rhyme, which makes it very easy for young ears to pay attention. It is a longer book, but my son has loved it since he was one.

The illustrations, done by Betsy Lewin, add a lot of value to this book. My children's favorite page is when the cat is dancing through the page to the text, "Cats have moods like many creatures: mothers, fathers, tigers, teacher. So when I feel the need to prance I run and whisk my tail and dance." The cat dances and jumps his way through the book.

Overall, this has been one of my children's favorites for a long time. I would recommend reading it to your children too.
