Soft Scrub Gel Cant Deliver On Its Promises By Joan Young on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I tried Soft Scrub Gel on some easy stains and some tough stains. It didn't do much on either one.
Soft Scrub Gel claims to penetrate and remove tough stains, and rinse clean, without abrasives.
I tried it first on a formica work table that had been used for crafts and then left for months without being cleaned. It had acrylic paint stains, glue, general dirt, and other unknown marks. I cleaned side by side sections with the gel and with plain water. They performed about the same, and then I had to rinse the side with the gel. I was surprised at how thin the gel is– more like thick liquid than gel. To get the table really clean I had to go get the abrasive cleanser.
Then, since it says “formulated to clean the toughest stains in your kitchen and bath,” I took them at their word and tried it on those tough toilet stains that nothing seems to remove. This product didn't change them at all, even when I plunged the water out of the bowl, applied the gel and scrubbed hard with the brush.
The scent is rather spicy somehow, but I didn't care for it. I think the only reason you might want this product is that it is non-abrasive, but if you can't use abrasives, why not just use soap and water with a little Clorox added?
