Songbird is another project started and currently maintained by Mozilla coraporation. Yes, this is that same Mozilla which developed Firefox. Mozilla Firefox is second most popular web browser after Internet Explorer. Mozilla is determined to develop a free open source media player which is as good as proprietary softwares. As far as now Songbird just plays audio files. It supports almost every audio format (this depends on the platform you are running i.e. Linux, Windows or macintosh). Mozilla adds new features to this media player as time goes by and new updates and upgrades are available. Mozilla sets some goals and they meet them when that version is released. They openly list what feature will be there in coming versions of Songbird. As far as I know they are going to add visualize, equalizer and an audio converter in coming future. If this occurs then this songbird will be competing with best players that are available now namely winamp, VLC, Real player etc. I used it and I really love it. Hope you love it too.
