Sony Handycam - is it handy?
By Debbie831 onI love taking movies but hate carrying around a big old camcorder - so I bought this Sony handycam..is it handy? Definately. I can slip this in my purse (well have to have a bigger purse but what woman doesn't) and tote it around without worrying about loosing it or leaving it behind. I am not a professional so for me it takes great movies, has a lot of features and is really easy for me to use. Great for recording the kids, family get togehters etc. The only thing I was really dissappointed about was the battery life. The battery doesn't seem to last that long so you need to keep the charger handy but thats about the only downside. This camcorder is also very easy to download to your computer. Plug it in, hit play and thats it. Definately and great camera for the novice who is looking to just take some home movies. For the price its a great buy!
Sounds ok to me. A bit disappointing about the battery life though. Still need to shop around.

I think the low battery life would become a problem for me. I'm often in places where charging up is not an option.

I don't think the battery life is out of the norm here. Most of them don't hold charges as long as we'd like. Using rechargeable batteries and carrying spares solves that issue. So this makes this Sony a nice catch!
I think that is par for the course for battery life. We have a canon and I believe it is about the same. Ours is a pain to download the movies though!
