Sony Trv 280 By Andrew Corica on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This is actually quite a nice camera. All points up, great for destructive teens. I have dropped it down a flight of stairs, in snow, tripod fell over MANY times and it still works. Although occasionally you have to deal with the heads getting dirty, or a 288 error. For the 288 error Take the battery out, and the tape. Flip it upside down, a few quick raps on the back and she's fixed. As for the heads getting dirty? Well, a good ol Hi8 cleaning tape should do the trick. If not, q-tips and rubbing alcohol so wonders.

After three years of owning this product, I can say its great for teens, and those who just need the occasional family holiday event filmed. I will say this, the USB video quality sucks! Get a fire wire cable if your computer supports it, after that the image and sound quality is amazing for a 8mm camera.
