Soothies A Great Source Of Relief By tsmommy06 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I was one of the few lucky women that had very minimal issues when I started breastfeeding. I had minimal pain and my son latched well. Things were smooth sailing until he started teething around 10 months old. During his teething episodes, he would often bite while breastfeeding and my nipples took a beating. I needed some relief and fast. I heard about a product called Soothies and I went right out to Walgreens and bought some.
Soothies are a gel pad that are designed to provide relief for sore nipples. According directly to the box Soothies:
* "Are designed to enhance breastfeeding success.
* Provide smooth protective barrier.
* Are handy for instant relief
* Reusable"
Soothies live up to all of their claims. I don't know that I could have continued to breastfeed if it wasn't for the relief the Soothies provided.
Two of the best things about the product are that they are reusable and that you can put them in the refrigerator for additional cooling sensation.
Soothies does advise right on the packaging that total usage should not exceed three weeks.
I recommend Soothies to all breastfeeding mothers and I give them as a gift to all my breastfeeding friends. They are amazing and really provided the best relief for my sore nipples.

Thankfully I didn't have any need for these with my daughter, but now with baby #2 on the way I will keep these in mind... just incase!
Wow, I wish they had those 13 yrs ago when my daughter was breastfeeding!
I was given some of these in the hospital and wow--they are amazing!!!
I will my wife know about this product, if we ever think about another child, but don't tell her I said that!
glad you were able to find some relief!
I'll have to try these out next time around! Thanks for sharing!
Love those features: reusable and can put them in the refrigerator for additional cooling sensation to relieve all the pains, thanks for telling us such wonderful products.
Well this sounds like a good product for new moms.
I never thought to use these during teething, I was lucky that my son didn't ever bite too bad, we'll see what my daughter does and I may need to get some of these in a few months!
