I had to borrow a friends car recently and he has a radar dectector inside. I haven't used a radar detector in ages but this one really impressed me. The brand was Cobra and the model number was XRS-R7.
I loved the style it was small as most radar detectors are these days. It was mounted on the dash but also allows you to mount it behind the rear view mirror. It is a 6 band radar detector. This radar dectector gave off very few falso alarms and I think it was due to the built in auto mute. It also had a strobe that would flash when I approached a emergency vehicle. There is also a built in voice alert, and this was helpful in letting me know what was happening without having to take my eyes off the road and read all the lights and signals.
I looked online to see how much it would cost and Best Buy had one for $299.99. That's right almost $300 for a radar detector. My eyes about popped out of my head after seeing that.
Although this radar detector impressed me, I don't think I would be purchasing it for that price. I guess I will just go the speed limit, and save both gas and the amount of money that this purchase would cost.

I didn't realize how pricey radar detectors were! Guess we all have to just drive the speed limit now huh?!
Sounds like this radar detector has some pretty nice features. They are a little costly but if it saves you from getting a speeding ticket, I guess it would eventually pay for itself in the end.
I love my radar detector. I didn't pay that much though.
Looks like I need to recommend my firend who always got speeding tickets to buy this...lol .
my husband needs one of these! His last speeding ticket cost him almost $400 ! He should drive slower! This scanner DOES sound expensive but the $300 for this would be worth it... His next ticket is going cost MORE!!
Cobra makes a good line of radar detectors. But.. unless I had a Lamborghini, Ferrari or a Porsche, I wouldn't bother.

I just had a $265 ticket, I think this is worth it for me!
Anything that gets rid of speeding tickets wins in my book!
Yes I agree sometimes products cost too much and we realize we can get by without it very easily. :
