Spiraling Out Of Control By JennEm on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This little gadget is a fun toy for a girl with straight hair, like me. I gave up my spiral perm in 1989, but sometimes I still want those special spiral curls bouncing around my ears. I found this curling iron and I thought it sounded like something fun.

This is like a regular curling iron except that is has a metal spiral along the barrel. You wrap your hair along the spiral and it comes out in bouncy ringlets.

Some of the best features are that it is longer than a typical curling iron, so you can spiral even hair that is longer than shoulder length. The barrel is 3/4 inch which is a good size for a spiral. It has many heat settings so you can use the best one for your hair type. My hair is thin, so I don't need a lot of heat for a curl to hold, but some women with thicker hair would appreciate the higher settings. It also has an automatic shut-off which is nice if you are a ditsy blonde like I am. Just kidding. But it is a nice feature.

The downside is that it's kind of cheaply made. I don't expect it to last a super long time. But for under $20 I think it's a good buy.
