Springs M Shaped Valance By dsnygrl on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
We have Plantation shutters and wood blinds through out our house so we don't have much in the way of draperies. Last summer after I painted out playroom the window in there seemed so bare that I needed to find something to finish the room off. We had bought a slate blue futon for the room and I painted the walls a few shades lighter in the same blue family. Also in the room , we have a huge black TV, wooden coffee and end tables that had a bluish gray finish to them and a light beige carpet.
I went to all the major home stores, department stores and even discount stores and could not find anything that I liked. One day while cutting through an aisle in Lowe's I found just what I was looking for in the Huntington M shaped valance with fringe. The color of the valance is slate blue and almost matches the color of the futon perfectly. The fringe trim has the colors slate blue, light blue and and the same shade beige of the carpet. The M shape and jacquard pattern have enough personality to stand alone on the window without having to add the matching draperies to the sides and weighing it down.
To hang it we had to purchase a 2 inch flat rod that was simple enough to install. We then just had to slide the rod into the pocket on the valance, snap the rod into place and fluff the valance until it covered the entire rod and looked uniform. It was just what the room needed and I would have never thought to look for draperies at Lowe's.

I knew that Lowe's sold window treatments, but was of the opinion that they were overpriced. Guess I was wrong! Thanks for the info.
Really? I don't think I have ever seen drapes at Lowe's. I guess I'm not spending enough time in the store! Those are beautiful and I love the blue color. Very pretty! (nice shutters too)
