Sprint Nextel By nicolemm on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

We have been a customer with Nextel for about five years now. In our line of work, we have a need for the two-way radio option that Nextel offers. However, if you are considering switching to Sprint-Nextel, for any reason other than needing the two-way radio, I would not recommend it.

We have a contracting business and the majority of our contacts use the two-way radio from Nextel. Radio service is not that bad, at times there are dead zones, but for the most part you can get through. Phone service is another issue. Often callers are put right to voice mail, because there is not service. There are also many dead zones and drop calls are a daily occurence. Their customer service is not much better. If you call and question, dropped calls or no service, they say they will check your area for outtages and always come back with your area appears to not be having any issues. After the last complaint call, they suggested that I purchase a new phone, even though, I had done this 3 months prior for about $350.

For the cost of the phones, the cost of the service and the amount of problems, unless you rely on the two-way radio, I would not recommend signing up with Sprint-Nextel.
