Stack On Multi Drawer Storage Cabinet By dsnygrl on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
When I finally had a room all to myself for crafting, I wanted it to be functional and organized. I wasted more time looking for things that I needed than I did actually working on projects. I had lots of small tiny things like beads, brads and eyelets and need safe, practical storage for them. It was in the hardware department of Big Lots that I found the perfect storage cabinet for my needs.
The Stack-On Multi Drawer Storage Cabinet is sold at hardware stores rather than at craft stores and is more commonly used to store things like nails and screws in garages and workshops. It works perfectly for small craft items and costs a fraction of what they would charge for similar items in the craft store. While it's not as pretty as the ones you would find in the craft store, it works just as well, maybe even better.
The cabinet measures 18 inches wide, 9 inches tall and 6 1/2 inches wide. It has 23 clear hard plastic drawers in 3 different sizes. The outside of the cabinet is a hard plastic too and the only downside to it is that it is in an industrial looking gray color. The clear plastic drawers are perfect because you can see what is inside with out having to open them. I do have all mine labeled though. The drawers have stops built into them so they do not pull all the way out unless you tip them at an angle so you don't end up with things all over the floor. They come with plastic dividers so you can separate the drawers into smaller compartments to store a variety of items in each one.
This cabinet has saved me so much time and energy. I used to have to search through boxes to find what I was looking for and now it's all at my finger tips. For those of you looking for craft storage needs, you may want to check out the hardware store before checking the craft store.

Your own craft room... sounds like a dream come true!
Just cleaned my office/sewing room and could use something like this for needles, miscellaneous feet for the sewing machine, etc. Thanks for the tip.
I have a set like this for my sewing items and it makes things so much easier being organised. :D
I have a few of these and they are so handy...one for floss and threads, one for beads, findings and such and another that actually even holds many of my watercolor and acrylic tube paints....very versatile product and great for staying organized...a must in a busy craft room or studio or home/garage. Thanks for the info
Aren't these perfect for crafting & scrapbooking?!
These storage things are really great. My hubby wants one to put all his jewelry supplies in so we can hang them on the wall. The ones we saw were not good for carrying around because the back area was a little open and he could lose his Swarovskis. But we'd definitely hang them and it'll keep the small stuff organized better.
