Pampered Chef offers three different scoops like this one. The small one is like a melon baller and scoops about 1 tablespoon. The large one is great for muffins and scoops about 3 tablespoons. The one I use most is the medium scoop. This scoops up about 2 tablespoons. I use it most for prepackaged cookie dough. The scoop is great for making sure each cookie comes out about the same size. This way some cookies aren't burnt, while others are gooey. It can also prevent sibling fights by making sure no one gets a cookie that's much bigger than the other. I also use this scoop to put chicken or egg salad on sandwiches. The squeeze handle pushes the filling neatly out of the scoop with just one hand. The scoop is dishwasher safe, but I have noticed stuff tends to stick to it. I recommend this scoop, but try to hand wash it if you have the time.
