Star Station Makes Baby A Singing Superstar
By kateri27 onMy family runs a daycare center which I work at once a week.My mother is always picking up new toys for the center and for Christmas she brought home the Star Station Karaoke machine.
This machine easily hooks to your television.The unit is relatively small and can sit on top of your television without being noticed on the days you are not using it.
The unit contains a little camera that reflects your child's picture (or whatever else you put in front of the camera) onto the television screen.There are also not one but two wireless microphones.There are little cartridges that kind of remind me of a mini Atari cartridge that you place in the karaoke machine.The set contains one cartridge that has four songs on it, additional cartridges can be purchased.
My main complaint is that the microphones barely work.You would literally have to have the mike pressed right into your face to have the sound come through.This is a concept my one year old just does not get.
Younger children also might not understand that in order to be seen on the television they need to stay in the site line of the camera.
I think you gave it a generous rating for what you described. Doesn't sound like it's all that great to me.
I don't know if my child would like it if the microphone did not work well. It sounds like a good concept though.
Sounds fun... but too bad about the sound quality. Sometimes that stuff doesn't matter much to kids though. :) Thanks for sharing your experience with this product!
Too bad the microphones don't work better. Very cool though that the kids can "appear" as a star on TV though :0)
This sounds like a cute enough karaoke machine for the little ones. I wonder if other microphones could be used with it?

Sounds like it is OK with a few issues. But I bet the kids have fun with it no matter what :)

Great idea there to put up karaoke in day care centre, kids will surely love it and learning at the same time. Thumbs up to your mum.
