This is one of my favorite purchases, and one I wouldn't be without in the winter, even here in Florida. It's called a Sunbeam Fleece Warming Throw. This is different than an electric blanket. It is designed to be used when you're awake, and sitting on the couch, in a chair, or in bed. It provides that extra warmth that you sometimes need, and keeps you from having to turn up the thermostat constantly. The control is lighted, with three settings--Low, Medium, and High. My favorite heated throw is a very cozy red one, but they come in many different colors. The throw can be machine washed and dried, though that is not often necessary. It also has a 2 year limited warranty.

These make terrific gifts, especially for the elderly, who get cold so easily. But they are actually good for the whole family.

Recently, when I was at the beach, it turned cold one night, and I did actually use it on the bed, in place of an electric blanket, but the heat settings aren't really designed for it to be used that way. The material is 100% polyester for a comfortable feel. I think everyone would enjoy having a warming throw.
