Stearns Life Vest for Kids

We needed a life vest for my four-year-old grandson when we take him fishing either on my parents boat or on a dock.I found this Stearns life vest at a garage sale that fits him perfectly. This is the youth model that fits a child with a chest size of 26-29 in. (66-74 cm). The information on the size is printed clearly on the inside of the vest, so I knew it would fit him and was recommended for his size.The vest is approved by the U.S. Coast Guard for use on all recreational boats and un-inspected commercial vessels less than 40 ft (12 meters) in length not carrying passengers for hire by persons weighing from 50-90 lbs.Flotation Aid - type III PFD.
I remember wearing the bulky orange life preservers when I was a kid and hated how big and awkward they were.This vest is so much more comfortable for our grandson to wear, and he doesn't mind wearing it at all.There are 3 nylon straps that are adjustable with plastic clasps that are easily opened by an adult, but our grandson cannot open them himself, so we don't have to worry about him removing the vest without us knowing it.
Do not dry clean or machine wash the vest. It can be cleaned with a sponge and warm soapy water if needed, and cleans up very nicely.

You did get a steal! Children grow so quickly that it makes sense to purchase these second hand if you can find them.

It's great they have come up with a less bulky life vest. And I love that the weight limit is printed right on it!
This is such an important safety feature for a child on the water. I'm happy to hear it's not easy for them to open the snaps too. Good for you for picking this up at a sale!
