Sterilite 7 Drawer Cart Handy Storage Or Sorting By Joan Young on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Sterilite drawer units help me organize tasks in my office. The size of the drawers is really good– large enough to put file folders in and have them lie flat.

I wasn't willing to pay full price for these units, but when the store had a 40% off sale, I bought two. I think they are well worth $20 each. Sterilite makes storage boxes that come in various sizes and configurations. These units have seven drawers, and the outside of the case is 12 5/8 inches wide, 14 1/2 inches deep, and 41 1/8 inches tall.

The top four drawers have inside measurements of 10/3/4 inches by 13 inches, by 3 inches deep. The fronts of the drawers are slightly rounded. The outside measurement given here is the maximum (the space you would need to hold the unit). The inside measurement given here is the minimum (the maximum size of something that would fit in the drawer).

The three bottom drawers have inside measurements of 10/3/4 inches by 13 inches, by 7 inches deep.

The drawers hang on a track from their top edges, and they are completely removable from the unit. They slide in and out easily. The top of the unit is rigid enough that if you have something sitting on top of the unit it won't make the top drawer jam. There is no catch to hold the drawers in, so if you tip the unit forward the drawers will fall out.

Regular file folders fit in a drawer fine. Hanging file folders will also fit, and you can even put a file folder box in the drawer. This is a tiny bit tight, but not really a problem

The handles are molded right into the design of the drawer. The entire unit is made of somewhat soft plastic. They are rigid enough to not jam, but soft enough to absorb shock and not shatter if they are bumped. There are no small oddly shaped parts to break off early, so it looks like it will stand up well to reasonable use. They might not survive small boys slamming into them and tipping them over for long. The case comes in white or black, and the drawers are translucent.

The unit comes with wheels so the cart can be freestanding and easily moved. I chose not to snap the wheels on because of the way I am using it. The outside of the unit has flat surfaces and should be easy to clean.

These are basic economy organizers for closet, office, or hobby area. Much more attractive, cleaner, and accessible than cardboard boxes but you will have to spend more money than I think they should cost.

This is a really nice looking storage unit! I had purchased one a few years back by a different vendor but it wasn't very durable... This one looks nicer than the one I had. Love the pics!

The Sterilite storage cart is perfect for storing all types of things. I have one of the tall ones and two of the shorter ones. Mine are used for storing office supplies, extra health & beauty items and gift items. They are easy to use and move around. Excellent storage product!

I really like the looks of this unit, too bad the inside measurements aren't a tad bit bigger, it would be perfect for my scrapbooking stuff! But, alas, I need 12" minimum for my papers. :-(
