Stevie Nicks 1st Solo Cd Bella Donna By nightwing on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Bella Donna is the first solo CD from Stevie Nicks following her becoming a huge star through her success in Fleetwood Mac. The CD was a huge hit and featured lots of popular songs that are still played on classic rock stations today. These hits include two duets, Leather and Lace with Don Henley and Stop Draggin' my Heart Around with Tom Petty, along with the rocking Edge of Seventeen.

The majority of the songs here are quite mellow featuring very intimate and personal lyrics. There is also a bit of a country-vibe to several of the songs, especially The Highwayman and After the Glitter Fades.

This CD is one of the high points in Stevie's career, as well as in the history of female rock. As such, I find it a shame that this disc has not been remastered. This is the same version of the CD as was first introduced in the eighties and the sound quality is quite poor. They recently remastered a portion of Fleetwood Mac's career and hop they soon do the same for her solo work. Regardless, this is a great disc and a good starting point for anyone looking to enjoy her catalogue of work.
