Sunbeam Cr Cctf 120 Mm Core Contact Cooler By Doc007 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I bought the Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120 mm Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler to cool my quad 9550 cpu. When I first got the cooler out of its box my first thoughts were OMG! the size of the thing..it's Huge. Reading the measurements before buying it I knew it would be a tight fit in my case..but actually getting the beast in my hands brought it home to me that this could be a struggle to fit..and it was, took me about 45 minutes to fit onto my Asus P5Q Motherboard. I tried the way the instructions showed me and it just wouldn't clip into place. After wiggling it about and getting my fingers into the small tight spaces I managed to get it to clip..while doing that though the TX2 thermal paste (comes with the cooler) was being moved about on the cpu.
Another problem was the side case fan, I had to mod it so the fan could get past the cooling fins if I wanted to take the side of the case off..it still does touch it but not by much.
Now the good things about the cooler..It cools very very well, keeps my quad 9550 2.83 Ghz at 29C 84F - 120 MM fan which noise wise isnt to bad..my case is under my desk so I don't really hear it. - Comes with TX-2 Thermal paste..I think thebest thermal paste out there.
My conclusion is The Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120 mm Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler is one of the best coolers out there..but make sure your case is big enough to fit it in..take measurements before hand, and take in to account the side case fan too.

Yeah, I'm always afraid of buying a cooler that's too big. I keep thinking it'll bend the mobo if I don't secure it well. Heh.
This one certainly secures well once you can get it to clip into place which was a struggle. My only problem with this cooler was the fan on the side of my case which I modded..it was getting in the way of the cooler sitting perfectly flat on the processor - in the end I removed the fan. But for the job it does I wouldnt hesitate to get this cooler again on my next build but I'd take into account the case fan on the side if I decided to have one..something I overlooked this time..and maybe I'd get a much bigger case too.
