Super Mario 64 DS
By Utziem onSuper Mario 64 DS is a DS port of the older Nintendo 64 game of the same name. This time you take the role of Yoshi as you platform your way through eleven different worlds to collect 120 power stars and once again defeat Bowser and rescue the Princess.
The translation from the N64 was well done. The graphics have been updated and look better than the original in some cases. The small size of the DS covers up the smaller resolution of the graphics, so most things are fairly clear. Most sound effects are intact and the DS does a great job of reproducing them. The controls are tight, though without an analog pad movement isnt nearly as precise as it was on the N64. 3D views are controlled well with either the four face buttons or controls on the touch pad.
Gameplay is pretty much unchanged, which isnt a problem. A few touch screen mini games have been added to expand the adventure, but for the most part things are still fun.
A few control hiccups aside, this translation to the DS is great for kids and older people who remember the original alike.
