I just recently purchased this laptop because my other one completely dies on me. I should start off by saying that I only have a computer for play and occasionally for school stuff. I am happy with it so far and i got it on sale. The only part that I disliked about it is that it comes loaded with all kinds of trial subscriptions to different types of programs. It took me about an hour to uninstall all of them.
The computer it self has a really cool swirly design on it and it only weighs 4 pounds. This is convenient because I like to take it with me on my vacations and it's not as heavy as my last one. I still want to buy a protective cover just for the outside so that it doesn't get scratched up.
As for speed, I have the high spped road-runner and I have never had any problems with it running slow. I guess it all depends on what type of internet capabilities you have.
Hewlett Packard is new to me, so if anything changes I will keep ya'll updated!

This laptop sounds very nice. I suggest you go to Circut City and buy one of the Neoprene Cases to protect your new investment. I got one in pink and it was only $20. It's a great way to carry the laptop when you travel. Easy to slip into your carryon.

I've always been pleased with HP, most of our computer stuff is HP. The price sounds pretty good. You mentioned that you use Roadrunner, I sure miss that. We live in the boondocks so we're stuck with DSL.
I have never tried a HP laptop but I like their desktops. In fact its the only computer I use.
I got a hp, Kinda got it free, I had a sony that got wet and was unfixable after 3 months so they told me i could pick out any computer for 799 i paid 1000 for my sony, so i was alittle worried about getting my Hp for so much less. But i like it, It is ok . Of course i have had more problems with the HP in such a short time then i ever did with my sony lol
I own 3 HP laptops. I use one and my two daughters have one. I also own 3 HP desktops. I've been using HP computers for years and have never had any problems. Wish you luck with yours.
