Swallow The Jagged Little Pill By Nutmeg101 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

How hard is it to make a pet swallow a pill? Well, it used to be a giant pain, but now it is a breeze. Greenies has introduced their Pill Pockets, an ingenious sneaky way to get animals to take their meds. There have been times that i thought i would be clever and hide the pills in cheese or peanut butter to disguise the meds, only to have the animal refuse the "treat" all together, or eat only the yummy parts and spit the pill back out.

The pill pockets are a hollowed out, soft treat that is apparently very tasty. I just put the pill inside, and offer to the animal as a treat, and viola! Meds swallowed! The soft texture makes it easy to slide in pills or capsules of varying sizes, and if needed, you can gently form the treat over the whole pill if you don't want any part of it exposed. I had thought that 2 weeks of antibiotics 3X daily for my pup would drive me bananas. I am relieved that this product works so well.

Nice, what a great idea. My mom used to feed our dog the pill wrapped in deli ham or something. =P Glad these worked so well for you.

Wow!! Will definitely have to check this out. We give our dog ginger capsule before travelling to keep him from getting sick in the car. We literally have to shove it down his throat-and sometimes he eats what we put it in and spits the pill back out. Great find!
