T. Rex And The Crater Of Doom By halcamdad on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This is a really fantastic book for those interested in paleontology. Written on a level for the educated lay person, Walter Alvarez' story of his discovery of the Chixulub crater in the Yucatan vicinity is fascinating. There's been debate for decades over the mass instinction at the end of the Cretaceous period. The consensus now is that a massive meteor or comet the size of Mt. Everest slammed into the Earth in the Yucatan and virtually wiped out most of the life on the planet. This is the fascinating story of the discovery of the crater and the many steps along the way toward building a convincing scientific argument in favor of the impact hypothesis of extinction at the end of the age of the dinosaurs. Many disciplines are rolled into this book: paleontology, geology, statistics, astronomy and more. A fascinating read that Alvarez makes simple....check it out....you won't be disappointed.
