Tahoe 2003 Lt By jb_shops on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
When I shopped for this I researched researched & researched all of the possible features and options and selected exactly what I wanted. I then spent as much time finding the best deal that could be had (IMHO) in Texas. I have been extremely pleased with my purchase. The Tahoe gives the perfect balance between utility, durability, style & luxury. This model's driver's cockpit was extremely well thought-out; I think they went backwards in the newer models. My wife is quite a bit shorter than I am, so the memory setting for the mirror and seat positions, the pedal height, and other preferences is an absolute must for any future car. The maintenance items I've had in the first 150K miles has been the fuel pump, and the intermediate steering column. The later was serviced under warranty. GM added a lubrication kit. Unfortunately, the slight knocking started a couple of months later after it was out of warranty. GM's new service bulletin has the dealership replace the column -- I understand this actually fixes the issue. Both of these items are minor in comparison to the comfort and reliability of the vehicle. Strongly recommend!
This engine can also accept E85 gas. This E85 ethanol option runs about 40 - 50 cents less than traditional gas. Unfortunately, the gas mileage drops when using the E85 fuel about 20%

I love the Chevy Tahoe. We haven't bought one yet, though. Still driving my Malibu....
I love Tahoes. They are very classy looking vehicles. It is too bad about the E85. People will soon learn to look for better more honest alternatives to this swindle.
It sounds like your research really paid off & you got something that you enjoy!
I have a friend with a Tahoe and she loves. I love it too when we take long trips with a group of friends and we can all fit in one vehicle! You did some great research - that always makes a difference!
Sounds great! Thanks for the information and for sharing your experience with this vehicle.
I have a friend with one of these. Except for short trips, they have parked it hoping the cost of gas will go down. They asked us if we wanted to buy it to use as the family vehicle. I love how roomy they are, but we've already got a gas guzzling F250.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the memory feature on the seat/mirrors! Oh how I wish I had that on my van!
That's sad that the mileage drops when you use the E85 gas. With that drop in mileage you probably almost come out the same with gas price. With gas prices these days, any little bit helps though.
This sounds like a very reliable vehicle.
I too do quite a lot of research myself before I make any purchases. My family actually laughs at me but knock on wood I've been very lucky with most of my major purchases. I'm glad your happy with your purchase and you got exactly what you were looking for. Sounds like all of your research paid off.
