I spend a lot of hours running alone. As a woman, there is always a fear that someone will want to do me harm. I bought the Tandem Sport Runner Defense Spray (pepper spray) for those times I wanted to run alone and feel safer.
I sprayed this once, to see if it worked and the spray came out about 7 feet. Certainly that's closer than I would want anyone to get, but it's better than being left unprotected. I do not know about how noxious the spray is (thankfully I was standing upwind during my test fire), but have no reason to believe it would do anything less than advertised (burn for at least an hour).
The holder is convenient. There is a loop you can either place your fingers through to hold it while running, or you could put a strap on a hydration belt or fanny pack through the loop to free up your hands.
I feel safer when running with this product. I would recommend anyone that runs alone, particularly women, to purchase this.

I have been peppersprayed in a safe setting for the police academy. I am sure it's not as strong, but I don't think it takes much. I was blind for like 3 hours. I think it's a safe product. I keep something similar in my purse.
We hike with a similar product- works for dogs too if needed. Haven't had to use it yet for real, thankfully! The ones we've had are worn out. I'll have to look for this one.
I think these would make great gifts for all women-college girls on campus, women work might work late at night, etc. I know that you must feel safer carrying this & I pray you won't have to use it!
This sounds like something I should get for my daughter to protect her. What a great safety device to keep with you when you are out running all by youself. I love the idea that you can attach it to your finger and it is ready to use. Too bad the women who were attacked in the park in New York did ot have this product with them for their protection. Great information!
I run, but never have felt in danger. I know it would be different if I were a woman. Sounds like a great product.
This sounds great! I don't run, I walk. I think I'm going to pick some of this up because you never know what will happen when. Safety first!
This is a great product to have. It is worth it just to make you feel better and safer while running. I hear the stories all the time about runners getting hurt or killed while running alone. At least this would be a great defense and easy to keep with you. This is a great reminder for people to always stay safe!
While I feel that my neighborhood is safe, you just never know do you? I walk early in the morning some days when not too many people are out and about. This would be nice to have along.
These days you never know when this will be needed.
