I got this cooling pad for my laptop for a Father's Day gift. I used to have a pillow under the laptop because it would burn my legs after having it on for hours. This unit comes with two built-in fans that operate by using the usb port and an on/off switch. The switch is a little flimsy so be careful not to break it off. The fans are weak and really don't help to cool the laptop as much as I had hoped. I also had issues with the power cord. The cooling pad is made mostly of plastic. It is a poorly constructed unit. I was hoping for relief from the heat of the laptop but for now I will continue to use my pillow. Although this is a great concept, this isn't a great product.

I have tried one of these too. Not sure I like it but I'm sure the whole concept was a good idea. Maybe they just need to tweak the design a bit. Hopefully your pillow doesn't heat up now!
I'm wondering if using a Chillow would work, if it were covered with a towel? Everyone who uses these cooling pads complains.
I had this one, it sucked.
