Tastes Great, But Contain Shellac And Carnuba Wax By Tanya Pecora on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I bought these as a treat for my kids. Normally I make my own cookies, but my son was fascinated by the colourful chips in these cookies. Once I got them home I opened them up and tried them. They are fantastic! They are a little on the small size, but that's okay.

Once we had almost finished the package I read the ingredient list. I am now wishing I had done this BEFORE I brought these home and fed them to my children. Included in the ingredient list of these cookies are carnuba wax, beeswax and even more alarmingly shellac! My heart lept into my throat reading this, I fed my kids shellac! Who in their right mind would ever consider it okay to put these ingredients into cookies. I will be writing a letter to Christie as well as boycotting their products in the future. I am disgusted.

Pros:

• Inexpensive

• Yummy, especially dunked in coffee

• Not overly sweet

Cons:

• Contain shellac, carnuba wax and beeswax, things that I do not want my children consuming!

Verdict: Even though these are quite tasty, I cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone. I will not buy them again and will warn others to always read the ingredient list before buying anything!
