Temporal Thermometer By cukal6 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

We have owned an ear thermometer for years and I've always wanted something different. I just didn't feel like I got a good reading off of it. Plus my kids complained that it hurt, especially if they had an ear infection. So, my girlfriend was telling me about this temporal thermometer she got and how she just loved it. My son got sick a couple of weeks ago and I ran right out and got one. I can't tell you how much nicer it is. All you do is push the button and run it across your forehead. Takes less than 5 seconds and it gives a much more accurate reading. I got up in the middle of the night to check my 3yo while he was sick, and he never moved. That right there is worth $40. This is a must if you have young children!

I'll keep this in mind for my daughter. She's going to have a baby soon and this would be very convenient especially when the baby is sleeping like you described. Great suggestion!

Wow! This sure sounds like a different type of thermometer! I would be interested in hearing about its accuracy if you test it against a thermometer that you know to be accurate, please let us know.

Well, you can get those little thermal strips to press against your forehead and they are fairly accurate (till they get old), so I don't know why you couldn't get an accurate forehead reading.

I've never heard of this & it does sound great for the kiddies who are so sick & you don't want to wake them up when they finally do get to sleep. I will have to tell my new mom friends about this!

I have an ear thermometer that I hate and have been thinking about this kind. I'm glad to hear that it is accurate.

I have one of these too because a neighbor recommended it. I personally don't really care for it all too much! Glad it works well for you though.

I've never heard of a thermometer like this one. Really sounds great & easy to use, no probing required, lol.

You are so right! If you can use it without waking your sick child, it is worth every penny of that $40!
