Terro Outdoor Ant Killer Kills The Ants By momincharge on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

We seem to live in the middle of ant heaven. Every year our home is invaded by hundreds or thousands of small black ants. Since I'm not good a planning ahead and putting down preventive treatments I rely on a combination of indoor and outdoor products to get the ants under control.

For outdoor usage I prefer to use Terro Outdoor Ant Killer. It is easy to find in the store because it is sold in a bright orange shaker bag. The bag design is unique. The product is a granule that is dispensed through mesh on the bag. To use it you rip off the tear-off strip and pull the bag open. When the bag is turned upside down you can use the handle to carry the bag around while you spread the granules around the perimeter of your house. The bag has a zip-type closure that allows you to easily save left over product for future use.

After the granules have been applied you just have to water them into the ground and wait for them to start working.

The only problem we find with this product is that much of our home is surrounded with a patio and porch. I do spread the granules around the concrete areas but many of the ants seem to make their homes in cracks along the house where the granules don't work.

Overall I've been very happy with the results I've seen from Terro. Obviously there is no way to completely eliminate ants from our yard but Terro Outdoor Ant Killer seems to help stop them from coming into the house.
