Thank You Benadryl! By donnabc on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My 9 year old has had food allergies since he was 2. Where ever he goes, so does his epi pen and benadryl.
For 7 years now, I have packed up a bottle of benadryl into a bag, backpack, my purse, car, fanny pack...well you get the idea...basically everywhere. Unfortunately, we do have to use it more than I would like and once opened, it tends to leak. So then I'd put it in a zip lock bag. Still sometimes it would get a hole and then I'd have another mess.
Ages ago, I sent an email to the makers of Benadryl begging for a more portable form of their drug. And finally I have it....Perfect Measure Benadryl. I first saw this advertised on TV about 5 or 6 months ago I think and have been looking for it ever since. I even took a magazine article in to request my pharmacy order it. Then, after I had finally given up on it, I found it...in the middle of no-where in the mountains of NC in a Kmart!
I am sooo excited to finally have it I am beside myself. Let me tell you about it. Each 5 ml dose is premeasured and put into a little plastic tube...kind of like a nebulizer med. Then it is sealed in a foil package. To use it, you simply rip off the top of the package. Swist off the top of the "spoon." Insert into your mouth and squeeze.
Simple, not messy, and small enough to stick in your purse, pocket, lunch box, etc. Yea Benadryl. Definately worth a little extra money for the convenience :0)
Benadryl Perfect Measure Purchased at: KMart Price: @$6

Isn't this great?! We have this for our son too!!
Drugstore.com has em too Donna, and they are perfect to have in your purse or car for emergencies.
I absolutely LOVE them, too. Our first son also has a load of allergies from environmental to food. I stocked up and bought a couple of boxes when I found then at our Wal-Mart for $4/box! We've got 1/2 a box in our family first aid kit, some in the diaper bag, and some in the suitcase for when we go places.
What I most find ironic about the Benadryl Perfect Measure is that it only comes in Cherry flavor... Well, speaking as a person who is allergic to cherry flavoring I would love if they would have it either in unflavored and uncolored. I carry around the Benadryl pills but think that the liquid would be better... ;-)
