The Best Gaming Router Currently Available. By YodaGoneMad on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I purchased the DGL-4300 around the time of the Xbox 360 launch, because i needed a good router that was gamer friendly. It is a bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for, and that definately holds true here. The DGL-4300 features standard router features, 1 Wan port, 4 Lan ports, and Wifi. However, what sets it apart is it's interface, stability, and speed. On the interface side, it features port forwarding that is simple to setup, you simply select the device you need to setup and then select the application you intend to use from a suprisingly complete and constantly updating list. Everything from Starcraft to Xbox Live are there, and with a few clicks you can have all the right settings. It also features Quality of service traffic control, which monitors and classifies traffic, so if your family is using the internet it does not interfere with your gameplay. This feature actually works, and works well. It has tons of other advanced features, and everything is easily laid out and intuitive. On the speed side, all the ports are 10/100Mbps, and the router adds almost no latency to your connection, in my tests it added less than 2MS to my ping. It is also incredibly stable, even with 500+ connections the router never stumbles. Plus, it doesn't degrade over time like many routers, my uptime is currently over 100 days online and it is just as fast as the first few minutes it was online. Overall, the DGL-4300 is a fantastic router, and i recomend it to anyone in the market for a gaming router, or any router in general.
