The Best Phone Ever... By Matthew Linscott on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I purchased the Sony Ericsson K790a at the begining of the year. At the time the phone was not available in the USA, or at least through any carriers. I purchaed the phone online for use with my AT&T (Cingular) wireless plan.
This is hands down the greatest phone I have ever owned, but what can I tell you about the phone that you might not know?
How about that it has a 3.2MP Digital Camera built into it w/ Xenon Flash and it takes the best pictures I have ever seen produced by a cellphone. The closest in comparison would be the Nokia N73 which is about in the same price range. The phone also sports one of the most styling appearances i've seen on a cellphone. Its a "candy bar" meaning its not a flip phone, but its reasonably small and has a large screen. The keys are angled slightly so its not so difficult to press the right one, basically making the chance of "fat fingering" the keys impossible to do unless you try. There phone emits a nice purple/white glow from behind the keys as well adding to the aesthetics of it. I've never had such great reception either. Having had a Nokia N73 and and previously a black jack and a razr. This is hands down the best reception and quality.
While the phone is hardly new in terms of technology, its still offers far more features and advancements that new carrier phones don't offer yet. As it is for GSM network use only, customers with Cingular, T-Mobile, Altell, Suncom Wireless can use it no problem. Verizon and Sprint users are out of luck, though they are out of luck on most of the good cellphones on the market.
The price is now under 300 dollars and can be purchased online in many locations, such as ebay or amazon.com. I would however suggest, www.mobilecityonline.com where its current price is 289.99.
Did I mention it was unlocked as well? That means your not limited to use on 1 network, should you decide to switch to another provider (Cingular to T-Mobile) this phone can come with you. Again, only GSM providers.
The mp3 playback is also another great feature, as is the radio funtion. Surfing the internet is also nice , even though the browser is lacking features which some newer phone may has such as the iPhone. I would highly suggest any one interesting in buying a great phone take a look at this one. Its successor (K850i) will be on the market soon and will sport enchanced features and a 5MP Digital Camera as well.
