Magic Jack is a small USB device with a phone jack, which you plug your phone into.
The phone takes a few minutes to install, but once you've got running, it's a keeper.
You get to choose your phone number, call anywhere in North America for free and worldwide for a small fee (like 2 pennies per minute). It also comes with other free great features, such as call waiting, voicemail, caller ID, and directory assistance.You first pay for the product (two Magic Jack devices) for about $60 if I remember correctly, then $20 a year for the service, which is so worth it.
While this product is really great, I do have two complaints. One is the facts that your computer has to be on to use it. Two is what greatly annoys me. I have a decently big family, so that means we get a lot of calls. The problem with that is that it interupts you on the compuer constantly. I'll be typing something for about two minutes straight, then I'll finally notice that Magic Jack interupted and that not a single one of my words were typed. It also exits out of full screen, whether it be avideo game or a video.
All together, this is a great product and by far the best home phone service we've tried.

We've read a lot of magic jack reviews and they all say exactly how we feel... the magic jack kicks some major butt! We love it for it's features, price and the quality of the calls. They sound great, and only cost $19.95 a yr! Incredible!
I'm always skeptical. I did purchase this product and it seems to be a way to make cheap long distance phone calls but that's as far as I would use it. I don't think it can replace a cell phone or a landline for local use. I would not give out the free number that comes with the jack because I don't want to receive phone calls on my computer. My computer time is my time if you know what I mean. So for me they have to remain separate except for the very occasional long distance call.
