The Blue Cotton Gown Is Great By s_harger on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I love this book. It was such a great book. The Author did such a great job at sharing her story as a midwife. By the end of the book it felt as if I knew this woman and her patients personally.

This is a memoir of a midwife Patricia Harman and her patients. Her patients range from a young seventeen year old who loses her twins to a woman wanting to become a man. Her husband is the Gynecologist/Surgeon and she is the nurse midwife. In this book she battles with her own problems with the IRS and uterine cancer requiring an immediate hysterectomy while still showing compassion to her patients that trust in her so much. These women come into the exam room with their physical and emotional problems. Patricia does such a great job in giving us a glimpse of all the joy and sorrow in these women's lives.

This is one book that I could probaly read a few times and it would not get old. I found the book at the library and could not put it down.
