Reviewing: Written By Brad Meltzer The Book Of Lies

I saw this book in a book club magazine that my mother had and I told her that it looked like it would be interesting so she ordered it for me as a gift. I was right, it is interesting. It combines a story straight out of the Bible with a history lesson about the making of one of the worlds most superheros, Superman.

This is a fictional story so as not to be confused with the true historical events that happened to the creator of Superman. The author even includes a note saying that the general historic events are true (such as the death of the father of the creator of Superman during a robbery and the different stories that were spread throughout the family involving that death and that the actual cause of death is still a mystery). Apart from all those events the rest of this story is fictional.

This book takes you on a wild wide from Florida to Ohio. A father and son are reunited and get involved with something historical and very dangerous. While discovering a very old copy of the #1 comic of Superman and following an address printed on the comic they end up in a twisted hunt for "The book of lies" which turns out to be "The Book of Truth" which turns out to not be a book at all. What it does turn out to be is the murder weapon involved in the first murder ever recorded...Think back to your Sunday School days, who where the first two men involved in a murder...Cain and Abel of course.

I found this book very entertaining and ending with a wonderful message. The twist of tying Superman and Cain and Abel together was very interesting and made for a great thrilling story.
