The Cake Mix Doctor
By Rae777 onMany times when we wantto make a dessert we are stumped for something different to make. This is where a cookbook called Cake Mix Doctor comes in handy. This is a book that Anne Byrn wrote on how to take a simple cake mix and doctor it up to make a very nice dessert. A lot of these recipes she has collected a from others over the years. There are around 150 recipes in this book that show how to take a cake mix and make cakes, cookies, bars and even cheesecake.
She shows how you can take a devil's food cake mix and make a chocolate covered cherry cake. She can take a white cake mix and turn it into cheesecake and she can take a yellow cake mix and turn it into an orange cake. Byrn also takes cake mixes and turns them into traditional well known desserts such as red velvet cake, Hummingbird cake and jam cake.
This book has wonderful color pictures of the desserts and most of the desserts look very easy to make or at least the ones I have tried. This is a cookbook every cook should own.
Anne Byrn also has a great companion website at http://www.cakemixdoctor.com/cakemixblog/index.php where she offers tips, advice, recipes and a discussion board.

This sounds like a terrific book! We don't eat much in the way of desserts, have an odd group of children who prefer "healthy" snacks to cakes or pies - how strange :) but this sounds like a great book to have on hand for those times when we do have a snack attack that demands a sweet rush. Thanks for the info - will be looking for this.
I've got to get this cook book. MMMMMMMM.
