The Christmas Cookie Book By ferret on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
This is the Christmas Cookie Book. It is a 130 page hard cover cookbook with a beautiful cover. It was written by Barbara Marks and Judy Knipe.
This cookbook is filled with delicious recipes and some practical help, but I was a little disappointed that as pretty as the cover of this cookbook is, there are no pictures inside. I know it is the recipe that counts, but it's always nice to have some photos, especially when you are dealing with cookies and especially when it is a holiday cookbook. I do like the cute illustrations throughout though and I suppose I can use the cover as a reference for some of the cookies in this book. All that aside, I found some nice recipes here, and some I'd like to try, like cranberry cookies.
Like most cookbooks I have used, this one is broken down into the types of cookies I might be looking to bake such as pressed, rolled, icebox, and more. There is also section on packing cookies to go and trimming the cookies.
I think this cookbook would be ok for beginners. I found the section that explains basic ingredients and equipment somewhat helpful, though it does not go into descriptions of elaborate ingredients or equipment. I do appreciate it's simplicity.
There is just not much here to make me want to look through this book again and again. In the past, this cookbook has been helpful if I know ahead of time what type of cookie I want to make, but just need a recipe. The index in the back is quick and easy to look through. I would suggest you look through this book at the bookstore before buying.
