The Codex Alera Series By belle_morte9506 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Jim Butcher has set up an interesting world in this series, where people use "furies" for fighting, healing, working, pretty well everything. Different types of furies are used for different things-earth, fire, water, wind, etc-but almost everyone is able to use at least one ability, with the strongest able to use all to some extent. The series mainly focuses around a family from a stronghold, a Cursor (kind of a spy/government agent), and a few support characters. There is a lot of fighting, action, and humanity. The whole series is wonderfully detailed and clear; it just draws you in, makes you want to consume all of it in a sitting, and then when you're all done, you feel disappointed you read it so fast, now there's none left.

I enjoy both the Dresden files and this series very much and would recommend reading this author, anything you can get your hands on, very much to anyone.

The books in this series are: Furies of Calderon, Academ's Fury, Cursor's Fury, Captain's Fury, and a new one I have yet to read, Princeps' Fury.
