The Condemned By WreathofBarbs on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

The Condemned is an action film starring Stone Cold Steve Austin, of WWE fame, and Vinnie Jones (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels). In this film, a television producer has assembled a cast and crew for an island death-match streamed live over the internet for gorehound fans around the world. The twist being that the cast are 10 deathrow convicts from all over the world. With explosives strapped to their ankle and a prize of cash or death at the end of thirty hours, depending if they are the last one alive or not, they are forced to fight for survival. Now, those up on their pop culture will see a lot of influence here. The film draws heavily from Battle Royale, where Japanese teens are forced to wear exploding collars and fight each other on an island. Or Manhunt, a video game where a deathrow convict has to fight gang members for a movie producer. Overall, the film is good action and worth watching and Stone Cold delivers a fairly decent, if not deadpan, performance.
